The employment status of locums has been a potential tax time-bomb for many years.
I am an Indian female and I feel that I have experienced racism in the workplace.
I worked as a temporary duty pharmacy manager two years ago for some months. I experienced racism and psychological bullying.
I feel there is some prejudice towards people who come from ethnic backgrounds that are not well represented within the pharmacy profession.
Some members of staff made it so obvious that I was black. Anytime I opened the conversation with them they never spoke to me.
It catches people by surprise that they are called out on it. In the past this has given me the impression that all forms of racism still exist everywhere.
I really hope this doesn’t come across as self-indulgent, but I know it may do, so apologies if that’s the case.
Our pharmacy is extremely busy normally. It’s a very fast-paced and stressful environment. We never have ‘quiet times’ & often have to cover other branches.
95% of our clients are lovely, supportive and patient but the ones that we take home at night and re-play in our heads are these guys that I’ve mentioned.
Who knew the causative agent ‘coronavirus’ would become a serious disrupter to my pre-registration training?
