PharmaDoctor™ launch new weight loss package

13th October 2019 by PIP editor Leave a Comment

PharmaDoctor has announced its much-anticipated free Weight Loss Service Package is now live and available for pharmacists.

The new private service has the potential to generate participating pharmacies much needed additional revenues of around £70,000 per year.

The PharmaDoctor Weight Loss service package includes:

Free Weight Loss eTool.

Online consultation platform designed to lead pharmacists step-by-step through a patient weight loss consultation.

Free 12 month PGD (integrated within the Weight Loss eTool)

Authorising pharmacists to privately dispense naltrexone hydrochloride/bupropion hydrochloride (Mysimba®) which is not yet available on the NHS

Free weight loss service marketing support

A national multi-channel digital marketing campaign to help promote pharmacy weight loss services to patients and drive footfall to them via PharmaDoctor’s Patient website.

Commenting on the launch of the free weight loss service package, PharmaDoctor CEO, Graham Thoms said

“We understand that pharmacists’ time is precious, so we have carefully designed the new weight loss service to be as efficient as possible for pharmacists to implement and deliver”. He goes on to say “Weight loss patients are able to start their consultation online via the PharmaDoctor Patient website, then select their nearest pharmacy using the weight loss eTool. When the patient presents in their pharmacy of choice, the pharmacist can easily access the patient’s online consultation record, complete the final steps, then initiate treatment where appropriate”.

As well as guiding pharmacists through a clinically robust weight loss consultation and initiate treatment, the PharmaDoctor Weight Loss eTool also enables the pharmacist and patient to agree a series of lifestyle actions and goals including diet, eating habits, alcohol consumption, smoking cessation and exercise.

PharmaDoctor Digital Director, Joaquim Pereira adds;

“To help support the tracking and measurement of a patient’s agreed exercise goals, we have designed the PharmaDoctor Weight Loss eTool to connect directly with a patient’s FitBit or Google Fitness Tracker so that the pharmacist can easily monitor progress during follow-up consultations”.

Mr Pereira goes on to say;

“This is PharmaDoctor’s first success in connecting their eTools with wearable technologies which can collect personal data to support more accurate patient monitoring. Our intention is to eventually connect the PharmaDoctor eTools to multiple health apps so that pharmacists can use the patient’s personal health data collected between consultations to more accurately assess and review their condition.”

Pharmacists can access the free PharmaDoctor Weight Loss clinical service package via their Pharmacist website.
