John Nuttall, CEO of Well Pharmacy, has announced his retirement and will be leaving the business on 30th September 2019.

He has decided it is time to retire so that he is able to spend more time at home with his family and transition into future Non-Executive Director roles.

John has led the business, including under previous ownership, since 2002. He has played a pivotal role in transforming Well Pharmacy since it was acquired by Bestway Group in 2014 and having worked in pharmacy for over 32 years, he is a very familiar and friendly face across the industry and will be dearly missed.

John has guided the business through significant change and overseen a number of strategic initiatives, which include rebranding the business, creating the very successful Bestway Medhub division and launching the innovative central fill and digital pharmacy models. John’s focus on these initiatives leaves Well Pharmacy best placed to succeed in an ever-changing sector.

Seb Hobbs will be joining the business as “Designate CEO” from 22nd July 2019. Seb will work alongside John until his departure on 30th September 2019 before assuming his new role as Well CEO.

Seb has recently returned from the USA where he was working for Signet Jewellers, the world’s largest diamond retailer and a NYSE listed entity. Seb joined Signet in 2011 and was promoted to Managing Director of their UK business in 2013. Seb led the UK business for over three years before being promoted to President & Chief Customer Officer for the global business and relocating to the USA.

In this role, Seb led all global customer-facing activities across seven brands in four countries including store operations, merchandising, digital, marketing and supply chain. Prior to joining Signet, Seb held senior retail roles with Blacks Leisure, WHSmith and Storehouse.

Zameer Choudrey CBE SI Pk, Chief Executive of Bestway Group, which owns Well Pharmacy, said:

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to place on my record my personal thanks to John for all he has done for the business. I would also like to congratulate Seb on his new appointment and wish him every success as he leads our business into the future.”

Commenting on his appointment, Seb said:

“I am thrilled to be joining the Bestway family. The opportunity to be part of the Well team at a time of transformation in pharmacy is exciting. I look forward to helping Well grow, especially in digital and through new ventures, as well as the core retail business and I’m eager to get started.”
